Summer Wanes
To celebrate Labor Day, M made the spontaneous suggestion we go up the coast for a very quick, too quick visit with Mom and Don. We ate well, especially from the garden. We relaxed. M and I went to the casino for a quick loss of cash in a sad sort of environment. I looked at the stars one night and remembered how very many there are. M hunted with Don and Sean. Unsuccessfully, thank goodness. We did not walk on the beach, unfortunately. M and I stopped at the wharf on the way home south to take in the somewhat disappointing Harbor Festival and visit Mom at the gallery. As usual, Rex sulked all the way home. I was reunited with the Pointy Pals last weekend--the first time in months that we'd been together. It was so nice to see them and catch up. The traveling starts Saturday. Felicia and I will wing it up to Spokane for a long weekend visit with Grandma, with a very quick stop in Portland, just long enough for a hello with Lloyd and Jacque. The following Saturday it's Boston for a week. I'll stay a short weekend with Kamala, then duty calls. Then two trips to New York in October...but must compartmentalize. On paper the travel looks do-able. We'll see how my energy holds up.
