Something to Think About

"When I started blogging, I discovered a compulsive need to open the tattered edges of my emotional raincoat and expose the nasty parts beneath. But at what cost to my kids?"

She sounds pretty out of control. Exploring personal issues is one thing; doing a direct-to-blog dump of every emotional event, resolved or not, is asking for trouble.

Check out what NY blogger Steve Gilliard has to say about this column ("creepy and indulgent.") He's not one to pull punches.

I really want to agree with Gilliard's comment, "people want stories, not a journal." I think this is true for many, but there are lots of other folks that want a peek into soul-baring, no-one-else-is-reading-this style drama, and is seems like Salon is tapping into/exploiting that.

Both articles help refine my thoughts on what I will and won't share, that's for sure.
